Glenbrae

A West Coast sensibility, carried into a Midwestern home.

Purchased less than a year after it was built, Glenbrae was a nearly new home with strong materials and a clear architectural foundation, but it had not yet fully taken on the life of its new owners. For Minneapolis natives returning after years spent in Venice Beach, the work became an exercise in translation, carrying the ease of their California life into a Midwestern setting without simply recreating what they had left behind.

For a family of creative entrepreneurs, the design needed to feel casual and open to daily life, while still being highly considered in proportion, finish, and detail. We carried that approach through the full home, from the main living spaces to a lower level shaped for entertaining and recreation. Layered textiles, distinctive lighting, and carefully selected furnishings bring depth, character, and a more personal rhythm to the rooms. The result is relaxed without sacrificing polish, refined without feeling formal, and fully grounded in the family's return to Minneapolis.
